BIO
Camila Costoya is an artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her first approach to art began with an obsessive interest in drawing as a child. Her first medium beyond the pencil was photography, which she explored by attending courses during her teenage years and securing her first gallery representation at the age of 19 with Mero Gallery.
While pursuing a Master's in Industrial Design, she pivoted to Visual Arts, specializing in painting. Currently, she creates large canvases and site-specific projects that transform spaces into immersive experiences for viewers.
Her current focus ventures into leisure, examining it's impact and the demonization in an overly productive culture. She argues that moments of "nothingness" and “unproductive” time can establish personal boundaries and hidden traits that may help us determine our essence.
Camila has participated in programs such as the Virtual Residency El Oráculo and earned a Diploma in Arts and Genders in Argentina, focusing on curatorial and cultural mediation. Her international presence includes exhibitions at WeWork Ireland, Art Basel in Switzerland, Rochester 6x6 in New York, and a duo show at Slip Gallery in San Francisco.
She draws inspiration from thinkers like Brian O’Connor, Bertrand Russel and Alejandro Grimson to name a few, striving to manifest their ideas into tangible expressions.
In her latest collection, she aims to embody and materialize the concept of leisure, providing an experience that allows the viewers the opportunity to play and get lost on their own perceptions, and interpretations.

ABOUT LAST COLLECTION
"Identity is the set of characteristics, beliefs and values that distinguish one individual or group from another. It is determined by personal experiences, social interactions, cultural influences and self-perceptions"
-James Marcia
“This collection explores the importance of prioritizing time for experiences and interactions that can define our identity
Derived from moments of leisure, these 'doodles on paper scraps' represent my most honest and transparent expressions — unintentional expressions in their most raw state.
Originally created to be destroyed, intentionally unseen, they led to my realization that I am most genuine when not meant for anyone's eyes.
What would I do if there were no one to see, judge, or validate me? This led me to embrace unproductivity as a means to discover myself.
Throughout this journey, I've come to view leisure as an indefinite, ambiguous, wandering pursuit — an anti-productive stance that nurtures self-perception. It's not about avoiding responsibilities but rather seizing the opportunity to find satisfaction in uncovering our essence and identity.”
